Working forwards: enquiry on day 1, mockup on day 2, sample in week 1–2 if you take one, production through weeks 3–7, and delivery about a week after despatch by air. An order that skips the physical sample and approves the mockup quickly can land in under a month.
What "after design approval" means
Production time is counted from the day you approve the final design and size breakdown — not from first contact. This matters: a buyer who takes three weeks to collect squad sizes adds three weeks to the calendar even though the factory's clock never started. The two things that most delay orders are late size lists and late artwork decisions, and both are on the buyer's side of the table.
To keep the clock tight: collect sizes while the mockup is being revised (the size chart guide has ready-to-use tables), confirm sponsor logos in vector format early, and nominate one person to give final approval.
What makes an order faster or slower
Faster: repeat orders (patterns, colours and artwork already on file), approved artwork at enquiry, standard fabrics from the stock range, and single-product orders. A reorder of last season's football match jerseys skips design and sampling entirely.
Slower: special-dyed or sourced fabrics outside the stock range, heavy embellishment (rhinestone work on performance costumes is hand-applied), mixed multi-product orders that ship together, and peak season — the months before northern-hemisphere autumn leagues are the busiest on the production floor.
Planning backwards from a season start
Clubs should work backwards from the first fixture. For a September season start with air freight, approving designs by mid-July is comfortable; approving in August needs express production. A safe rule: first fixture minus 8 weeks = design approval deadline for standard production, minus 4–5 weeks for express.
