Match jersey construction for junior contact

An academy rugby jersey has to survive tackling, rucking and being grabbed by the collar every week, and it has to do so on a player who will outgrow it in a season. Junior grading: one design from minis to colts

Rugby academies issue the same jersey design to players who differ enormously in build, from a seven-year-old in minis to an eighteen-year-old prop in colts. ZipaSports grades the design across the whole range by computerised pattern grading, so the crest, the hoop width and the number height scale with the garment instead of a senior artwork simply being shrunk onto a junior body. How the academy orders: quantities, numbers and deadlines

1. Brief. Send the crest, colours, the garments wanted and a rough headcount per age band by WhatsApp or email. A free digital mockup comes back within 24 hours with unlimited revisions.
2. Sample. Optional: a physical jersey or a size set in 5–7 days, charged at sample cost and credited against bulk.
3. Size and number list. A spreadsheet per garment: age band, chart size, number, and name if used. Rugby academies usually number match jerseys 1 to 23 per age band and rotate them by position rather than printing names, because the same shirt is worn by different players across the season; names are added on request for representative or senior squads.

A rugby academy reorders the same kit every season as players move up an age band, and ZipaSports keeps the approved artwork, Pantone references, number font, size chart and label files on record so each reorder is printed from the same file. Colour consistency between seasons is therefore a matter of dye-lot tolerance rather than re-mixing, and hooped jerseys in particular benefit from sublimation because the hoop colour never depends on a screen being re-made.

Mid-season top-ups follow the same file. A new player in the under-12s, a jersey torn beyond repair, an age band that grew over the summer: send the order reference and the extra sizes on WhatsApp and we quote the same day. The standard minimum stays at 20–25 pieces per design, but lower quantities are possible on request for an academy that already holds an approved design with us, and academies running as a brand or company have no MOQ limit.

Where an academy changes sponsor between seasons, only the sponsor panel changes on the file; the new mockup is returned within 24 hours and the rest of the jersey is identical, so last season's shirts and this season's can be worn in the same squad without a visible mismatch.
