Every sport on campus, one crest, one factory
An athletic union rarely buys kit for one sport; it buys for thirty clubs that share a crest and a colour but nothing else. ZipaSports manufactures kit for every one of those clubs from the same factory in Sialkot, Pakistan, so the university crest sits in the same place, in the same Pantone, on a rugby shirt, a netball dress and a rowing all-in-one. Each club's kit is its own design at 20–25 pieces per design; lower quantities are possible on request for the smaller societies.
The discipline pages below carry the cut, fabric and decoration detail for each sport, and all of them can be combined in one athletic-union order:
- Field and court: football, rugby, hockey, netball, basketball, volleyball, lacrosse, American football
- Racket and individual: tennis, badminton, athletics, cycling, swimming and water sports
- Combat and dance societies: BJJ, boxing, taekwondo, cheerleading, dance
- Esports and gaming societies: esports jerseys
Bags and sublimated socks in the same colours come from the bags and accessories range, which is how a union puts a matching kit bag under every seat on the varsity coach.
How an athletic union orders: one brief, many clubs
The simplest way for a university to order is one consolidated brief from the athletic union or sports department, with each club listed as a line item carrying its own garment list, size breakdown and decoration notes. The studio returns a mockup per club within 24 hours, the union circulates them to club captains, and revisions are unlimited before approval. Clubs that order independently can do so under the same crest file; we hold the crest and colours once, so a club committee only sends what changes.
| Who orders | Typical scope | How the minimum applies | Approval |
|---|---|---|---|
| Athletic union or sports department | All clubs, staff kit, varsity-day kit, union merchandise | 20–25 pieces per design per club; consolidated dispatch | One union contact signs off each club's mockup |
| Individual sports club | Match kit, training tee, club hoodie | 20–25 pieces per design; lower on request for small squads | Club captain or kit secretary |
| Society or department | Society hoodie, leavers' hoodie, tour tee | 20–25 pieces per design, mixed sizes and names allowed | Society president or treasurer |
| College within a collegiate university | College colours across intercollege sports | One pattern, several colourways; each colourway is a design | College sports officer |
Because committees change yearly, we ask for a permanent union or department inbox as the contact so next year's kit secretary inherits the order history.
Varsity day and the fixture calendar: working back from the date
Varsity kit has a hard deadline and an audience, so it is the order most universities want right first time. Count back from the fixture: courier delivery from Sialkot takes 5–10 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS, bulk production takes 15–25 business days after design approval, and the mockup takes 24 hours from the brief. A varsity fixture in March therefore needs its designs approved in January. Express production in 7–12 days is available at additional cost when a club has left it late, but the courier leg is unchanged.
- Brief with crest, colours, garment list and provisional sizes; mockup back within 24 hours.
- Optional physical sample in 5–7 days at sample cost, credited against bulk, for a new cut or a new club.
- Approve designs and the final size breakdown; production starts.
- Bulk in 15–25 business days, or 7–12 express; pre-shipment photos on request.
- Courier 5–10 days to the union office, with tracking.
League kit for the autumn term follows the same chain from a summer approval, and the two can be combined so the varsity order is a colourway change on the league shirt rather than a new design. Our lead-time guide sets out the same numbers for every order type.
Society hoodies, leavers' hoodies and tour kit
The highest-volume garment a university orders is not a match shirt but a hoodie. Society hoodies, course hoodies, sports-club hoodies and leavers' hoodies with the year and every name on the back are all made at ZipaSports from cotton-polyester fleece at 280–350 GSM, or from performance polyester fleece at 240–300 GSM where a club wants something lighter for training. Joggers, quarter-zips and tracksuits come from the same fleece so a full off-field set matches.
Decoration on hoodies depends on what is being printed. A crest and society name on the chest are usually embroidered. A list of two hundred leavers' names on the back is screen printed or applied by DTF transfer, which handles fine text cleanly. A large single-colour back print for a tour tee is screen printed; a full-colour tour design goes to DTF. Puff print is available for raised lettering on the chest. Names on individual garments, such as a nickname on the sleeve of a sports-tour hoodie, are added from a spreadsheet you send and do not change the minimum. The decoration comparison guide explains where each method holds up over washing.
Every hoodie carries your own woven neck label or printed size tag if you want it, so union merchandise sold through the student shop looks like retail stock rather than a one-off print run.
Sponsor logos, club branding and where each goes
University clubs are usually sponsored by a local bar, a letting agent or a graduate employer, and the sponsor expects a logo on the shirt. ZipaSports places sponsor logos, club names, university crests and player numbers in production as part of the design, not as an afterthought, and a sponsor change between seasons is a file swap rather than a new design. Vector files (AI, EPS or PDF) give the cleanest result; a PNG can be redrawn by the studio. Placement rules from your league or governing body are applied when you tell us what they are.
| Garment | University crest | Sponsor logo | Club or player detail | Method |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sublimated match shirt | Left chest | Centre chest or sleeve | Back number, club name on back neck | Printed into the fabric |
| Piqué polo (staff, officials, committee) | Left chest | Right chest or sleeve | Role wording on back | Embroidery |
| Training tee | Left chest | Back, below neck | Initials on hem | Sublimation or DTF |
| Hoodie or quarter-zip | Left chest | Sleeve | Society name across back | Embroidery plus screen print or DTF |
| Kit bag | End panel | Side panel | Club name | Embroidery or heat transfer |
Full options for names, numbers and sponsors are on our names, numbers and sponsor logos page.
Adult sizing XS–5XL, women's cuts and mixed squads
University kit is adult kit: ZipaSports produces adult sizes XS–5XL and women's XS–4XL, and one design can be spread across any mix of those sizes without affecting the 20–25 piece minimum. A men's rugby club ordering 2XL to 5XL for the front row and a women's football club ordering XS to L are both single designs with a single size breakdown. Youth sizes are available for junior sections of a university-affiliated community club.
Fit matters more at this level than at school because players compare kit with what they see in professional leagues. The standard blocks are a regular cut for training and off-field wear and an athletic cut for sublimated match shirts; women's blocks are graded separately rather than scaled down from men's. If a club wants its own fit, the pattern is drafted from your measurements and kept on file. A size set, one garment per size at sample cost credited against bulk, arrives in 5–7 days and is the surest way for a captain to settle sizing across a squad they have never measured.
Measurement tolerance is ±1–1.5 cm against the approved size chart, printed on the spec sheet; our size chart guide gives the chest and length bands we start from, and a custom chart with the university's name can be printed into every garment.
Budgets without a price list: how quantity tiers work
ZipaSports does not publish prices because every order is built to its own fabric, GSM, decoration and quantity, but the way unit cost moves is predictable and a treasurer can plan around it. Unit cost falls as quantity per design rises, because pattern, print and embroidery setup are spread across more pieces. It rises with fabric weight, with the number of decoration methods on one garment, and with add-ons such as individual names. Shipping cost per piece falls sharply when clubs consolidate into one dispatch. A full quotation follows the mockup within 24 hours.
| Decision | Moves unit cost | What a union can do |
|---|---|---|
| Pieces per design | Down as quantity rises | Order the larger squad first; a colourway on an identical pattern is cheaper to set up than a new design |
| Number of designs | Up per design | Standardise the training tee and hoodie across clubs, vary only the club name |
| Decoration methods on one garment | Up per method | Sublimate match kit so crest, sponsor and numbers cost nothing extra; embroider only daily-wear pieces |
| Dispatches | Down when consolidated | One union shipment per term rather than thirty club parcels |
| Reorders | Setup already done | Keep designs unchanged year to year; change sponsors by file swap |

What the union or club needs to send us
A university order is only as fast as the slowest club's size list, so we ask for the items below per club and hold the shared items once.
| Shared by the whole university | Per club or society |
|---|---|
| University crest as a vector file (AI, EPS, PDF) | Garment list with decoration notes |
| University colours as Pantone references | Size breakdown per garment, XS–5XL and women's cuts |
| Label preference: union woven label, printed tag or plain | Sponsor logos as vector files and their agreed placement |
| Permanent ordering inbox and invoicing details | Names, numbers or initials list where wanted |
| Delivery address and receiving hours for the union office | Deadline: fixture date, varsity date or freshers' week |
| Any governing-body placement rules that apply across sports | Approving contact for the mockup |
If a club only has a photograph of last year's shirt and a new sponsor, that is enough to start; the design service is free, the mockup comes back within 24 hours, and revisions are unlimited before approval. For a first order we suggest the union approves one club's kit end to end, including a 5–7 day sample, before releasing the rest, so the crest colour and label are proven once and then reused. Full workflow detail is on our how it works page.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can our athletic union order kit for all its clubs in one go?
An athletic union can order kit for all of its clubs in one consolidated brief listing each club with its garment list, sizes and sponsors. The studio returns a mockup per club within 24 hours and the whole order ships from Sialkot in one dispatch. Each club's kit is its own design at 20–25 pieces per design, with the crest held once for everyone.
What is the minimum order for a small university sports club?
The minimum order is 20–25 pieces per design, and lower quantities are possible on request for a small squad or society. A club ordering a match shirt and a training tee has two designs, each with its own minimum, and any mix of sizes is allowed within each.
Can we put a sponsor logo on our university kit?
Sponsor logos are placed on university kit in production, on the chest, sleeve or back of any garment. They are printed into sublimated match kit or embroidered on polos and hoodies. Send the logo as a vector file; changing sponsor next season is a file swap on the design already held on record.
Do you make leavers' hoodies with every name on the back?
Leavers' and society hoodies are made with every name on the back, from cotton-polyester fleece at 280–350 GSM, with the crest embroidered and the name list screen printed or DTF transferred. Send the names as a spreadsheet; the minimum is 20–25 pieces per design with mixed sizes.
What sizes can university kit be made in?
University kit is made in adult sizes XS–5XL and women's XS–4XL, mixed freely within one design. Women's cuts are graded separately from men's, and a custom pattern can be drafted from your measurements. A size set in 5–7 days at sample cost, credited against bulk, is the usual way to settle sizing across a squad.
How long before varsity day do we need to order?
Approve the design roughly two months before the fixture. The mockup takes 24 hours, bulk production 15–25 business days after approval, and courier delivery 5–10 days. Express production in 7–12 days is available at additional cost for a late order, but courier time stays the same.
Can one manufacturer really make kit for every sport at a university?
ZipaSports manufactures team kit, combat wear, dance and cheer kit, fitness wear, esports jerseys and matching bags for university clubs from one factory in Sialkot, Pakistan. Ordering every club from one manufacturer keeps the crest, colour, fabric and label consistent from the rugby shirt to the rowing all-in-one.
Will next year's committee be able to reorder the same kit?
Next year's committee can reorder the same kit because the crest file, artwork, Pantone references, fabric, GSM, pattern and size breakdown are kept on record under the university or club name. We ask for a permanent union or department inbox as the ordering contact so a new kit secretary can reorder from the history without starting again.
Why can't you tell us a price before we send the brief?
Because unit cost depends on fabric and GSM, decoration methods, pieces per design, labels and freight, and no two club orders match. A full quotation is issued within 24 hours of the free mockup so the number reflects the actual garment, and payment terms are confirmed with your enquiry.
What if the delivered kit does not match the approved mockup?
That is a manufacturing defect under the Quality Guarantee: the affected pieces are remade free of charge with the remake in production within 3 days of your report, or a credit is issued if you prefer. Send photos and the order reference within 7 days of delivery to claim.
