Netball kit is unusual among team sports because most of it is a single garment: the dress. That changes what a club has to think about. There are no shirt-and-short combinations to co-ordinate, but there is a set of position bibs to design, a junior section that is often larger than the senior one, and an umpire who needs a contrasting dress. Which garments a netball club orders

Most netball clubs order in three layers: the match garment (dress, or skort and top), the training and warm-up layer, and the travel and supporter layer. Dress, or skort and top: how clubs decide

The one-piece netball dress is the standard match garment and is what most clubs in the UK, Australia and New Zealand order; the two-piece skort and fitted top is chosen by clubs whose players want a separate waist or who run a mixed or social section. ZipaSports makes both, and a club can mix them in one order as long as each design reaches 20–25 pieces.

Both garments are cut from 100% polyester interlock or pin-dot mesh at 140–180 GSM with a moisture-wicking finish. The lighter end of the range suits indoor and summer play; the 170–180 GSM end gives a more opaque fabric and a slightly firmer drape, which some clubs prefer for pale colours. Mesh side panels or a mesh back yoke can be added to any dress for ventilation without changing the print.

Dresses come with an integrated inner short in polyester-spandex, and many clubs add a separate pair of compression shorts in the club colour so that players have a uniform under-layer. Position bibs, names and sponsors on a netball dress

Netball identifies players by position rather than number, so the decoration a club needs is the set of seven position bibs (GS, GA, WA, C, WD, GD, GK) plus the crest and sponsor logos on the dress itself. ZipaSports sublimates the position letters onto both sides of each bib in the club colours, and supplies bibs in sets so that every squad has a full seven plus spares. Letter size and contrast should follow the competition's own kit rules; send us the rule wording and we size the letters to it.

Sponsor logos, the club crest and the league mark are sublimated into the dress print as part of the artwork rather than as an added decoration step. The usual placements are the chest, the lower hem or skirt panel, and the back yoke, though a club can place a sponsor anywhere the fabric is flat. Player names are optional in netball; where a club wants them, they go on the upper back above the sponsor.

Warm-up jackets, hoodies and bags take an embroidered crest rather than a printed one, because embroidery survives the heavier fleece and bag fabrics better. Tackle twill is rarely used in netball. The placement rules and artwork formats are on names, numbers and sponsor logos.

Junior grading, women's cut and men's kit in one order

A netball club's junior section is often the largest part of the order, so ZipaSports grades every dress design from junior sizes through to adult XS–4XL women's sizes and treats the whole run as one design against the 20–25 piece minimum. Ten junior dresses and twelve adult dresses in the same print count as twenty-two pieces of one design, not two separate orders.

Junior netball dresses use the same fabric as the adult dress but a shorter skirt length relative to the body, a higher neckline and a wider strap, so the youngest players are not wearing a scaled-down adult cut. The club sends ages or chest measurements and we pick the size, or the club sends its own size chart and we grade to it using computerised pattern grading.

Men's netball kits and mixed sections order a vest or fitted top with playing shorts rather than a dress; these carry the same artwork so the club looks like one club. A physical sample dress in one size is available in 5–7 days at sample cost, credited against the bulk order, and most clubs use it to settle junior sizing before the full size list is confirmed.

Home, clash and umpire colours: the general rules

Most netball leagues ask a club to have a second colourway or a set of contrasting bibs to wear when two teams' dresses clash, and they ask umpires to wear a colour that is distinct from both teams, commonly white. The exact requirement is set by the league, so the practical rule for a club is: order the home dress in the club colours, order either a clash dress or a second set of bibs in a contrasting colour, and give the umpire a separate umpire dress if the league requires one.

A clash dress from ZipaSports is the home design with the dominant and secondary colours swapped or the main colour replaced, so the crest and sponsor layout stays identical and the club only approves one additional mockup. Season deadline planning for a netball club

A netball committee should start the kit conversation about eleven weeks before the first fixture if it wants a physical sample and a comfortable margin, or about six weeks before if it approves from the mockup and uses express production.
