The honest answer on affordable kits, without a price list
An affordable custom kit for an amateur club is one bought factory-direct, printed by sublimation so that every name, number, badge and sponsor logo is part of the fabric rather than an add-on, and ordered in one run of 20–25 pieces per design. That is exactly how ZipaSports supplies Sunday league and amateur clubs from its factory in Sialkot, Pakistan.
We do not publish prices, and the reason matters to a club treasurer: a match shirt in 140 GSM mesh with a two-colour print is a different garment from a 180 GSM interlock shirt with six sponsors, and a quote that ignores that difference is not a real quote. What we can state plainly is what is included and what is not. Included: the design service, a digital mockup within 24 hours, unlimited revisions, names, numbers, crest and sponsor logos in the print, mixed sizes within the design, and export paperwork. Charged separately: a physical sample, at sample cost and credited against the bulk order. Courier freight and any import VAT or duty in your country are confirmed on the written quotation.
Send your squad size, badge and colours and a full written quotation follows within 24 hours of the mockup. Our guide on what drives the cost of a custom jersey walks through them.
Why factory-direct usually costs a club less
A Sunday league kit normally passes through at least one middle layer before it reaches the changing room: a kit reseller, a club-shop platform or a local printer decorating blank shirts. Each layer carries its own margin, and each tends to bill names, numbers and sponsor logos as separate line items.
Ordering direct removes those layers. At ZipaSports the shirt, shorts and socks are cut, printed and sewn in one building in Sialkot, Because the decoration is sublimated, names, numbers and sponsor logos are printed in the same pass as the club colours rather than added afterwards as separate decoration steps.
| Item | Typical reseller or club-shop route | Factory-direct with ZipaSports |
|---|---|---|
| Design and artwork | Often a set-up or artwork fee | Free design service, mockup within 24 hours |
| Player names and numbers | Commonly priced per shirt as an extra | Included in the sublimation print |
| Sponsor logos | Often priced per logo, per position | Included, front, back and sleeve, in the same print |
| Colours | Limited to the blank shirt colours in stock | Any colourway, matched to a Pantone reference |
| Sample | Varies | Charged at sample cost, credited against the bulk order |
| Minimum | Varies by supplier | 20–25 pieces per design, lower on request |
The trade-off is time: 15–25 business days in production plus 5–10 days by courier, so factory-direct suits a club that plans ahead of the season rather than one that needs shirts by Saturday.
What affects the cost of a custom kit
Five things move the price of a custom football kit up or down: fabric weight, decoration method, quantity, extras, and shipping. A club that understands the five can keep its own order lean without being told which corners to cut.
| Cost driver | What pushes it up | How an amateur club keeps it down |
|---|---|---|
| Fabric and GSM | Heavier interlock, added base layers, thermal fabrics | 140–180 GSM polyester mesh or interlock is the right weight for a Sunday match shirt; use one fabric across the squad |
| Decoration | Embroidered crests, tackle twill numbers, mixed methods on one garment | Full sublimation puts crest, names, numbers and sponsors into a single print pass |
| Quantity | Runs below the 20–25 piece design minimum | Order shirts, shorts and socks as one squad set with the goalkeeper pieces in the same order |
| Extras | Woven labels, hang tags, individual polybags, presentation packaging | Standard size tags and squad-level packing are enough for most clubs |
| Shipping | Multiple small parcels, express production for a missed deadline | One consolidated courier shipment, and ordering before the season rather than during it |
Two of these are inside the club's control from day one: deciding the full squad set in one go, and ordering early enough for standard 15–25 day production rather than the 7–12 day express route, which carries an additional charge.
What a 20-piece Sunday league order actually contains
Twenty to twenty-five pieces per design is one squad: sixteen to eighteen outfield players, two goalkeepers, and a few spares for late signings. The minimum applies to each design, not to each size, so a 20-shirt run can be split across any mix of adult sizes from XS to 5XL and women's XS to 4XL.
| Garment | Fabric options | Decoration | Sizing in the run |
|---|---|---|---|
| Match shirts (home) | 100% polyester interlock, mesh or pin-dot mesh, moisture-wicking, 140–180 GSM | Sublimated: crest, sponsors, names, numbers | Any mix of sizes; one shirt per squad number |
| Shorts | Polyester interlock or microfibre 140–180 GSM | Sublimated crest and number if wanted | Mixed sizes, usually fewer sizes than shirts |
| Socks | Polyester-cotton-spandex knit | Sublimated stripes or club colours | Adult size bands |
| Goalkeeper set | Same fabric family, contrasting colourway; long-sleeve option | Sublimated, same crest and sponsors | Typically 2 shirts, 2 shorts within the order |
A club that wants shirts only can order shirts only; a club that wants the full set can order the complete team kit as one line. Shorts and socks without names are the usual choice because they can be pooled between seasons. Everything is made in one run at ZipaSports in Sialkot, so the shirt red and the sock stripe red come from the same approved file.
Sponsor logos, names and numbers: included in the print
Sponsor logos are included in a sublimated kit because they are printed into the fabric with the club colours, so there is no second decoration pass and no vinyl to peel. A Sunday league shirt commonly carries a chest sponsor, a back sponsor above the number and one or two sleeve sponsors, and all of them go into the same artwork file.
What we need from the club is the sponsor's logo as a vector file (AI, EPS or PDF) or the largest clean PNG available, plus a note on which position each sponsor has paid for. Revisions are free and unlimited before you approve the mockup, so a sponsor change at that stage is simply amended in the artwork. If a sponsor changes after approval, tell us on WhatsApp straight away: whether the file can still be altered depends on whether the order has gone to print, and shirts already printed or shipped need a new order.
Names and numbers follow the same principle. Send a list of squad numbers and, if names are wanted, the spelling exactly as it should appear. Sublimated numbers cannot crack, peel or lift, which is why we recommend them over heat-applied vinyl for a kit that is washed every week, season after season. Placement, fonts and colour contrast are covered on our names, numbers and sponsor logos page, and the print process itself on the dye sublimation page.
Goalkeepers, mixed sizes and the players who never fill in the form
Goalkeeper shirts come in a contrasting colourway within the same order and count towards the design total only if they are a separate design; most clubs order one or two goalkeeper sets alongside the outfield run. Long-sleeve goalkeeper jerseys and goalkeeper trousers are available for keepers who play on hard winter pitches.
Mixed sizing is the norm for amateur clubs and ZipaSports treats it as standard. One design can be cut across adult XS to 5XL and women's XS to 4XL, and a mixed men's and women's section can share a single crest and colour file. Send the size list as a simple table: squad number, name if wanted, size. We send a measured size chart with the mockup so that players choose against chest and length measurements rather than guessing from a shop size.
Every club has two or three players who never return the form. The practical answer is to add spare shirts in the most common sizes, usually M and L, with numbers but without names, within the same run. Those spares also cover a mid-season signing without waiting for a reorder. If a size is chosen wrongly by a player, that is not a manufacturing defect, so it pays to get the list right before approval.
Kit packages: match only, match and training, full player pack
Most amateur clubs order in one of three shapes. None is a fixed bundle; they are the combinations we quote most often, and each can be trimmed or extended.
| Package | What is in it | Suits | Fabric and decoration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Match only | Home shirts, shorts, socks, goalkeeper set | A club replacing last season's kit on a tight budget | 140–180 GSM polyester, fully sublimated |
| Match and training | Match set plus training jerseys or quarter-zips in a second design | Clubs that train midweek and want to keep the match shirt for match day | Sublimated training tops, or plain colours with an embroidered crest |
| Full player pack | Match set, training top, rain jacket or hoodie, kit bag | Clubs collecting subs up front and issuing a pack to each player | Fleece 280–350 GSM for hoodies; 600D polyester for bags |
A second design, such as an away shirt or a training top, has its own 20–25 piece minimum. A club with 18 players that wants both home and away can meet the minimum on each by adding spares, or ask for a lower quantity on request. Whichever package you choose, send the list on WhatsApp and one mockup per design follows within 24 hours. The wider range of club garments is listed on the football clubs page and the football teamwear range.
Timeline for a season start, and reorders for new signings
To have kit in the bag for the first fixture, an amateur club should send its brief about ten weeks before the season starts. That leaves room for the mockup, a physical sample if the club wants one, standard production and courier delivery, with a margin for the size list arriving late.
| Step | Time | What the club does |
|---|---|---|
| Brief sent | Day 0 | Crest, colours, sponsor logos, squad size, deadline |
| Digital mockup | Within 24 hours | Review, request revisions, share with the committee |
| Physical sample (optional) | 5–7 days, plus courier | Check fit and colour; cost credited on the bulk order |
| Size list and approval | Club's own pace | Send final numbers, names and sizes; approve the mockup |
| Bulk production | 15–25 business days after approval | Express 7–12 days available at additional cost |
| Courier to UK, USA, Canada, Australia or Europe | 5–10 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS | Pay any import VAT or duty on arrival |
Reorders are where factory-direct saves an amateur club the most trouble. ZipaSports keeps the approved artwork, Pantone references and size specification on file, so a January signing who needs shirt number 14 is a top-up from the same file, not a new design. Top-ups below the 20–25 piece minimum are possible on request for existing clubs.

Frequently Asked Questions
We are a Sunday league team with 18 players. Is that enough for a custom kit?
Yes. The minimum at ZipaSports is 20–25 pieces per design, and an 18-player squad reaches it by adding two goalkeeper shirts and a couple of spares in common sizes. Lower quantities are possible on request for small teams, so an order is never refused for being two shirts short.
Are names, numbers and our sponsor's logo really included, or is there a surcharge?
They are part of the printed design, not a separate decoration step. Sublimation prints the crest, sponsor logos, names and numbers into the polyester at the same time as the club colours, so nothing is heat-applied afterwards. Send each logo as a vector file with the position it has been sold for and it goes into the same artwork.
Why won't you just tell us a price per kit?
Because the price depends on fabric weight, decoration, quantity, extras and destination, and a number quoted without those would be wrong for most clubs. Send your squad size, crest and colours; a written quotation follows within 24 hours of the free mockup, so you have a real figure before committing to anything.
Can we order mixed sizes, including a couple of women's cuts, within one design?
Yes. One design can be split across adult XS to 5XL and women's XS to 4XL in any mix, and the 20–25 piece minimum counts the design, not the size. A measured size chart is sent with the mockup so players choose by chest and length rather than guessing.
How does the goalkeeper kit work if we only need two?
Two goalkeeper shirts and shorts in a contrasting colourway are ordered alongside the outfield run and made at the same time. Long-sleeve jerseys and goalkeeper trousers are available for winter pitches. Most clubs treat the goalkeeper set as part of the squad order rather than a separate design.
When do we need to order for an August season start in the UK?
Send the brief about ten weeks before the first fixture. That allows a mockup within 24 hours, an optional 5–7 day sample, 15–25 business days of production after approval, and 5–10 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS to the UK. Express production of 7–12 days is available if the size list arrives late.
We signed three new players in January. Can we get matching shirts without ordering another 20?
Yes, on request. ZipaSports keeps your approved artwork, Pantone references and size specification on file, so a top-up of three numbered shirts is printed from the same file. Ordering a few unnamed spares with the original run is the quickest way to cover mid-season signings.
Our sponsor changed after we approved the mockup. What happens?
Before you approve the mockup, revisions are free and unlimited, so the sponsor is simply swapped in the artwork. After approval, message us on WhatsApp immediately: if the order has not gone to print we will re-issue the mockup, but shirts already printed or shipped need a new order, so confirm sponsors before final approval.
What if some of the shirts turn up with a print fault or a split seam?
That is a manufacturing defect and it is remade free of charge under the ZipaSports Quality Guarantee, with the remake in production within 3 days of your report. Send photos and the order reference within 7 days of delivery; replacement pieces are shipped at no charge, or a credit is issued if the club prefers.
Do we pay VAT or import duty when the kit arrives in the UK, Europe, USA, Canada or Australia?
Any import VAT or duty is normally payable by the club as the importer, and the courier usually collects it before delivery. ZipaSports supplies the commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin with every shipment so clearance is straightforward; see the shipping policy page for details by country.
