Who is this page for, and what does a tennis club actually order?

A tennis order looks different from a football order. There is rarely a squad number, the men's and women's garments are cut differently, and the same club often needs a match polo for league players, a coaching top for staff, and a small run of supporter tees for the clubhouse. Sizes are spread thinly across the roster rather than grouped, and the club usually wants the same colours again next season.

Which garments make up a club tennis kit?

A full club tennis kit is usually built in three layers: what players wear on court, what they wear between matches, and what the club sells or issues to staff. Clubs rarely order all of it at once; a first order is typically the match layer, with warm-ups and bags added in a second order.

Every line can be ordered in the same colourway with the same crest file, so a club that starts with 24 polos this year can add tracksuits next year and the colours will match.

What fabric and GSM should a tennis polo or dress be?

Tennis is played in heat, so the match layer is lighter than most team sports. For sublimated tops and dresses we use 100% polyester interlock or pin-dot mesh with a moisture-wicking finish at 140–180 GSM; the lighter end suits summer leagues in Australia and the southern USA, the heavier end suits UK spring and autumn play. Club polos with a collar and placket are usually cut from polyester piqué at 160–200 GSM, which holds its shape after repeated washing and takes an embroidered crest cleanly.

Skorts carry an inner short as standard, and dresses can be made with or without a built-in bra shelf. GRS-certified recycled polyester is available on request for clubs with a sustainability policy. Fabric detail is on the piqué and interlock pages.

Sublimation or embroidery: which suits a tennis club?

Most tennis clubs use both. Full-garment dye sublimation suits designs with colour panels, a gradient, a sleeve stripe or a large sponsor block: the ink becomes part of the polyester, adds no weight, and cannot crack or peel. Embroidery suits a club crest on a piqué polo, a quarter-zip or a cap, where a stitched badge survives years of washing.

• Screen print or DTF: supporter tees and hoodies in cotton-polyester blends, where sublimation cannot be used.
• Tackle twill: not normally used in tennis; it belongs on baseball and American football uniforms.

How do mixed men's, women's and junior sizes work in one order?

Mixed sizes count towards the same design at ZipaSports, so a club order of 24 polos can be 9 men's, 11 women's and 4 junior pieces and still meet the 20–25 piece minimum. This matters in tennis because a first team, a ladies' team and a junior squad are often all covered by one committee budget.

Men's and women's garments are graded on separate blocks: the women's polo is shorter in the body with a narrower shoulder, and the women's ball short is cut to sit under a dress or skort. Junior polos, dresses and skorts run from children's sizes up to adult XS, and junior tennis kits can share the exact crest and colourway of the senior kit. Adult sizing runs XS–5XL for men and XS–4XL for women.

If your club uses its own size names or a mix of UK and US labelling, send us the chart and we grade to it; grading to your own chart is part of the free design service. Clubs that are unsure of sizing order a size set of the match top in 5–7 days, charged at sample cost and credited against the bulk, and pass it round at a club night before confirming the breakdown.

Home colours, alternate colours and all-white rules

Tennis clubs do not run a home and away kit the way football clubs do, but three colour situations come up often enough that the mockup should plan for them from day one. First, some clubs, grass-court venues and events keep a predominantly white or all-white dress code; if your club plays at one, the primary match top should have a white body with club colour kept to trim, collar and crest. Second, county and inter-club leagues sometimes ask both teams to wear their registered colours and to bring a contrasting alternate if the colours clash, so a second colourway of the same polo is worth registering. Third, coaching and staff wear usually sits in a darker version of the club colour so it reads as different from player kit on a busy court.

Where a club has both a sublimated match top and an embroidered piqué polo, we match the thread colour to the sublimation reference so the crest looks the same across both garments.

When should a tennis club order kit for the season?

Count backwards from the first league fixture. The full route from brief to delivered kit, including a physical sample, fits comfortably inside ten weeks; skipping the sample or using express production shortens it. The table below uses the lead times ZipaSports publishes and assumes the club replies to mockups within a day or two.

For a UK summer league starting in late April, a brief sent in late January leaves time for a sample and the standard bulk run. For an Australian season starting in October, brief us in July. If the committee only signs off six weeks before the first match, express production at 7–12 days plus courier still lands the kit in time, at additional cost; tell us the fixture date at enquiry and we plan the slot around it.

Artwork, Pantone references, size grading and embroidery files stay on record after the first order, so a top-up for new members or a second team is placed by sending a new size breakdown; quantities below the 20–25 piece minimum are possible on request for top-ups to an existing design.

Kit ships from Sialkot by DHL, FedEx or UPS in 5–10 days to the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and across Europe, with tracking sent to the secretary.
