It gradually loses effectiveness with abrasion and washing. Washing cool and tumbling briefly on low heat reactivates much of it, and aftermarket DWR sprays restore the rest.
Can the jacket be embroidered without piercing the membrane?
We keep embroidery to the outer chest and sleeve and use a backing to control needle penetration. For maximum weather resistance a heat-applied transfer avoids piercing the shell altogether.
